Fire Chief Sontos

Hello neighbor,
 
I hope this letter finds you and your family doing well. Let me start by introducing myself. I am Sontos Chavez, currently the Fire Chief for the Dove Creek Volunteer Fire Department as well as a resident of Dove Creek.
 
I think we’re all thankful to have left 2020 behind us. I know many people suffered through what was a very tough year. It was also tough for first responders. We as a department had to learn new ways of responding as well as training, fundraising. Our department was stretched thin many times by the same limitations that many of your families were forced to deal with. Never the less DCVFD responded to every call for service. Our members, although few, held the line. This is something that makes me extremely proud.
 
The Dove Creek Volunteer Fire Department is not only the Primary fire protection for the citizens of Dove Creek but also the town of Knickerbocker and the sub divisions of Ponderosa Estates and Ducote Air Park. Not to mention the West Texas Boys Ranch and the area covering from San Angelo city limits on 67 South to the Tom Green county line.
 
Our ability to continue to respond and maintain our department relies on donations and participation from neighbors such as yourself. The department operates as a nonprofit organization as an IRS 501-C3. With the limitations from Covid this past year we have had to find new ways of fundraising. I ask that if you are able to, please consider a donation monetarily or even as becoming a member. We meet at 7pm on the first and third Tuesday of every month for training. The board meets at 7pm on the second Tuesday of every month, and it’s open to the public. I welcome anyone out that’s interested in becoming a volunteer or even if you just want to have a cup of coffee and talk. I would like to thank you for all your support.
